The Year in Review (part I)

Well, our first year together has brought many joys and challenges. Right after the wedding we arrived in North Dakota to much hotter conditions than I expected. I figured that we are moving north and the weather will be cooler. Boy was I wrong! Our first order of business was to purchase Window AC units for both upstairs and downstairs. It made a huge difference and we were able to sleep better at night. We then had the task of acclimating the dogs to each other. Chloe (the little 5lb Yorkie) and Kaya (the big 50lb Lab mix). Kaya is now one and a half years old and Chloe's two and a half. Kaya is still very much a puppy and loves to play. She always has so much energy it is hard to keep up with her. I don't take her for a walk She takes me for a walk.

These are our puppies! Chloe is ever mischievous and Kaya endless bounds of energy. Chloe for the first six months did not like Kevin. She in fact was so upset about him being around her ever time he came near her she would roll over and pee on herself. Needless to say this caused much stress. Eventually after talking to a dog behavior specialist we were able to get the problem under control and not Chloe and daddy are best friends.

Our first major hurtle came as a shock to the whole family. Almost exactly a month after we were married Kevin's grandmother past away, and we made a trip to California to be with his family. While it was unexpected we were bless to get to spend more time with his family. I loved getting to hear family stories and of course getting inside dirty from Kevon's Aunts. I especially enjoyed getting to spend time with his Grandpa Westlund and Grandma Donna. We stayed at there house in Irvine, CA.

Next came Kevin's wisdom teeth surgery. It was actually more complicated than most as the root of one tooth was lodged in his sinus cavity. When they pulled it out it left a hole in his sinus which was quite painful. He was well drugged and lets just say he doesn't remember a thing. The photo says it all!

Then we had our first big purchase together! Kevin's new truck. It is a Mercury Mountaineer 2003 fully loaded. It has a leather interior, power everything, and a DVD player. He was so excited to have his first nice car that he bought on his own.

His truck has proven to be very handy as we have traveled and needed to haul many large loads. When we go on long road trips Kevin bring his Xbox along to entertain himself. Kevin even used the truck to pull this huge cement thing out of our yard. We thing it use to be part of an old clothes line and as it is quite windy here theyhad to the cement support very deep. The only thing I could see happening was the backend of the new truck being demolished by this cement thing crashing through the back window. He however was quite successful at pulling it out of the ground.

So far we are only through July of 2006.
